Course Content:

This course will cover how to correctly cite bibliographies and quotes, will introduce library-oriented information sources, compares library sources and internet searches, teaches how to select subject specific information sources, search strategies, and how to archive quotations.
By means of hands-on instruction, participants will also learn about accessing original documents, ILL services, document delivery services, online access to local licensed electronic documents, the link between electronic documents and references, and how to access local non licensed electronic documents.
Participants will be asked to perform concrete tasks to learn about the system first-hand.

Target Group:

JKU students currently writing a thesis or dissertation, students, faculty, researchers from all faculties – at the time of registration, please indicate your subject area, major, etc.

Prerequisites:

Participants should have basic knowledge of computer and internet use and base knowledge in literature research using LISSS. Participants are encouraged to bring laptop computers (with wireless reception) however, this is not a requirement.
