Library Loans

Check-Out Policies:

The loan period at the Main Campus Library is 1 month.

Students may check out up to 25 books at any given time.

"General Users" (non-university affiliated persons) may check out up to 20 books at the Main Campus Library at any given time.

School students may check out up to 5 books at the Main Campus Library and an additional 5 books at the subject-specific libraries.

JKU Diploma/Master's degree students and doctoral candidates may check out to up to 50 additional books. This special policy applies for a one-year period. The candidate must present a letter of confirmation signed by his/her thesis or dissertation supervisor.

The check-out system is automated. Your JKU Card can be used as a library card to check out books!
Students and JKU employees are not required to fill out a form.

Your account is pre-set already with basic settings and we will gladly check to see if you qualify for upgraded services (such as longer loan periods).
If you are also simultaneously enrolled as a JKU student, please let us know by either calling 0732/2468/4848 or send an e-mail to bibliothek(/\t)jku.at.

GENERAL LIBRARY USERS
Those not affiliated with the university (general library users age 18+) may check out library materials. Please register online (see link below). After you submit the form, you will receive a message sent to the e-mail address you have provided. The e-mail will have an application form attached. Please print the form, sign it, and bring it to the main campus library.
Minors under the age of 18 are eligible to obtain a library card providing a parent or legal guardian signs a declaration of liability (the 'declaration of liability' form will be sent along with the application form).
The library card will be issued at the Circular Desk. The fee for the first time issuance of a library card is 10 EUR. In case of loss or theft, a fee of 10 EUR will be charged to issue a duplicate card. Please bring a valid photo ID when applying for a library card. The photo for the library card will be taken on site.
