Submitting a Dissertation  (Neues Fenster) Information by JKU Administrative Services

In order to maintain a record of various dissertation topics, students must register their dissertations in the Austrian Dissertation Database. The dissertation content will be summarized in an abstract. In addition to the dissertation, the institute and the dissertation supervisor will also be noted in order to provide information on which institute and which researchers in Austria have worked in certain thematic areas. These queries are of interest for contact with professionals in a certain fields.

Restricted dissertations must also be registered – the period of restriction can be indicated on the registration form. For the period in which the dissertation is restricted, the data base search will not display the abstract, however the entry data will display your selected topic.
(If your dissertation has not yet been approved by your dissertation supervisor at the time of registration, please contact one of our staff members (see contact information below) as soon as you receive approval in order to register the dissertation in the database as “restricted”.

How long does it take for a registered dissertation to appear in the dissertation database?
After registration activation, the information can be found in the database anywhere between 3-6 months. During this period, the information can only be activated after approbation of the dissertation by the dissertation supervisor and after the doctoral candidate’s oral defence. If your registration does not appear in the Austria Dissertation Database after a 6-month period, please contact one of our staff members. (Contact information available below)
