Our group (click for full size)

Our group investigates the spectroscopic and photochemical properties of inorganic and organometallic compounds including luminescent materials and systems of biological or medicinal relevance. In this context, the research interests focus especially on the functional role of metal sites in catalytic and light-dependent processes.

Current projects span a wide field of interdisciplinary topics targeting on the photochemical conversion and storage of solar energy, the synthesis and characterization of functional nanomaterials, the improvement of light-emitting devices, the controlled release of drug-molecules, the search for environmentally benign catalytic processes and the development of artificial enzyme counterparts and photosynthetic model systems.
