Technological support of didactic-based knowledge transfer. Integration of generic learnersupport into the webbased learning-platform SCHOLION WB+

End: 15.10.2003

Description:
This document deals with the integration of concepts from didactics and software-technology for the sake of realizing this concepts in a webbased learning-platform named SCHOLION WB+. The didactic concept includes traditional didacic approaches such as step- and phases-schemata but also constructivist didactic concepts which allow learners to interact more active in the learning process. These constructivist learning-concepts are self-directed learning and task-oriented learning. As most important for constructivist, technology-based knowledge-transfer the following features can be named:
individualization and personalization, communication, collaboration and community-building and linking content with communication. The technological conception is based on these features and on additional features of technology-based learning environments, which were identified within an evaluation of existing e-learning-platforms. All relevant aspects were incorporated in a relational datamodel, learning-technology-standards such as LOM, IMS and SCORM, and process models, which show the dynamic of the functions and features of the learning-platform. In the software architecture dynamic and static aspects were joined and instanciated by software-technologies around Java-Servlets, XML, XSL and client-sided scripts. Concluding the concepts were consolidated by a broad evaluation of the platform in the scope of a university-course, which engages empirical evidence for the success of the implementation of SCHOLION WB+.
