Linz, a prominent city of Austria, is located on the Danube and in the heart of Upper Austria, not too far from the northern alpine range. The city combines a rich historical past with industrial and scientific present. A beautiful surrounding landscape and various cultural activities complete the picture. The latter range from classical to avant-garde, from the Bruckner music festival to “Ars Electronica”, an annual computer art contest and festival. The city was one of two European Cultural Capitals in 2009.
Linz can be reached easily by plane with direct flights from Vienna, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Zurich, Munich and London Stansted. Road and train connections are excellent as well. The conference will take place at the premises of the Johannes Kepler University, named after the famous astronomer who spent many years in this city dedicating his time to both research and teaching.
