The Johannes Kepler University in Linz (JKU Linz) is a young European university with a special focus on the social and economic, legal, natural and technical sciences. Through diverse research and teaching achievements in these fields, in the forty years of its existence the university has established itself as a respected institution on both a national and international level. Interdisciplinary co-operation and a close proximity to business and society determine the JKU’s basic orientation.
On the basis of the principle of the unity of research and teaching, the JKU Linz provides services of great assistance to society, business and culture through the creation and transfer of know-how in the aforementioned disciplines. The university’s main target groups are students, the scientific community and organisations in both the private and public sectors.
As the largest research and teaching institution in Upper Austria and a know-how transfer centre, the university contributes to the retention and development of Upper Austria as a dynamic economic region. It participates in centres of competence and develops spin-off programmes, which support the foundation of new companies.
