BY PLANE:

The closest airport to Mauterndorf is Salzburg Airport. It is Austria’s second largest airport and lies at the heart of the motorway network interface Salzburg-Munich-Vienna-Villach. There are good scheduled flights to the main European cities and it is well linked up to the main transport hubs of Frankfurt, Vienna, London and Zurich. Coming by taxi or rented car the drive to the village of Mauterndorf on the Tauernautobahn motorway takes approximately 90 minutes. BY TRAIN OR BUS:

The village of Mauterndorf has a stop that serves the Postbus network. The train ride from the city of Salzburg out to Radstadt changing to the Postbus to Mauterndorf takes approximately two-and-a-half hours. Heading north Tamsweg is the next available rail stop.

BY CAR:

The village of Mauterndorf can be reached on the A 10 Tauernautobahn motorway via the St. Michael exit and then by taking the B 99 to Mauterndorf.
Please note! A motorway toll sticker (Vignette) is required for all motorways in Austria. There is also an additional motorway toll for the Tauerntunnel (between Flachauwinkel-Süd and Zederhaus) heading south and for the Katschbergtunnel (between Rennweg and St. Michael) heading north. There is plenty of parking space available on site.

Visitors who do not wish to purchase a motorway sticker can reach Mauterndorf as follows:
     Heading south from the city of Salzburg – take Salzachtal-Bundesstraße (B 159) to Bischofshofen, then the B 99 via Obertauern to Radstadt in Lungau (approx. 90 minutes).
     Heading east from Zell am See - take Pinzgauer Straße (B 311) from Zell am See to Bischofshofen, then the Katschberg Straße B 99 via Obertauern to Radstadt in Lungau (approx. 95 minutes).
     Heading north from Carinthia – take the road from Spittal an der Drau to Katschberg Straße (B 99) via Gmünd, Rennweg, St. Michael to Mauerndorf (approx. 40 minutes).
     Heading west from Styria – drive from Murau on Murtal-Bundesstraße (B 96) to Tamsweg, then take the Turracher Bundesstraße (B 95) to Mauterndorf (approx. 40 minutes)
