Program Energy Day / Energietag
In addition to the regular program, an Energy Day (Energietag) with several parallel sessions on recent topics of energy generation, -transport and -storage will be jointly organized by the Energy and Industry Subdivisions of the Austrian Physical Society and by the Johannes Kepler Universität on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
This event will be open to the public without charge. It will end with a public lecture by Prof. Mildred Dresselhaus from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Boston, who was a former director of the US Department of Energy. Prof. Dresselhaus' talk will also serve as the formal opening of the ÖPG/SPS annual conference, which offers, among many other highlights, another public lecture by Prof. Serge Haroche, one of the awardees of the 2012 Nobel Prize in Physics.
In parallel to the "Energietag" a focused session on Thermoelectrics will take place.
