Information about Linz

Linz is the third-largest city of Austria and capital of the state of Upper Austria. It is located in the north center of Austria on both sides of river Danube. The population is above 200,000.

Linz is a symbiosis as a city of industry, culture and nature. As the European Capital of Culture in 2009, Linz offers a diverse cultural scene. You can enjoy the view on the entire city from the Pöstlingberg hill, where you can get by the tram Grottenbahn directly from the main square (Hauptplatz). Music theater Landestheater Linz offers a wide range of entertainments - operas, operettas, musicals, ballet, children's and youth theatre. Linz is a big industrial center of steel production, which you can discover by visiting Voestalpine.
