The Johannes Kepler University Linz is Upper Austria's largest educational institution and after graduation, many school students will pursue higher education at the JKU Linz. To enable future students to learn more about the world of research and campus life, we have developed a wide range of services as well as launched the JKU Young Scientists program.

Do You Wish to Support Talented and Interested Students in STEM Subjects?
Young Scientists has the right program for your gifted students!

The JKU's Young Scientists program is aimed at gifted upper level AHS and BHS school students who show a special interest in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, mathematics). These subjects are a large part of our programs. Students interested in more than one program can take part more than once by, for example, signing up for a different topic the next year.

The JKU Young Scientists program offers exciting and and specialized workshops, allowing school students to pursue their interests and delve deeper into the material. Faculty at the Johannes Kepler University Linz are in charge of the workshops and available for student questions. The dates are listed under each program and during the academic year, workshops takes place on Fridays and/or Saturdays.

Research conducted by the faculties and institutes at the Johannes Kepler University Linz is recognized worldwide. The Young Scientists program provides school students with insight into research activities and a unique opportunity to conduct lab experiments themselves. This not only brings theory and formulas to life, but also encourages school students to explore fields of research.

In order to appreciate and truly understand acquired knowledge and theories, it is important to put knowledge into action and create a hands-on learning experience. In addition to experimentation during workshop sessions, the JKU Young Scientists program also offers contact to industrial companies located in Upper Austria. A partner exchange service during the Kick-Off meeting allows program participants to apply for an internship and get a topic for his/her pre-academic paper / Diploma degree thesis. This truly guarantees a combination of theory and hands-on practice!

NEW! We provide student support services for their pre-academic paper or Diploma degree thesis!
As part of the "JKU Young Scientists" program we offer the following support services:

* Professional advising by experts at the Johannes Kepler University Linz
* Access to literature and materials at our libraries
* Use of scientific equipment for lab experiments (by appointment)

School students in graduating classes face decisions regarding the future: academic studies, work, or maybe even both? What is the right degree program? What area(s) of interest(s) can be pursued? The JKU Young Scientists program offers these students an opportunity to experience campus life and experience academic studies. Internships provide insight into selecting a possible future profession.
