The JKU Young Mechatronic Scientists program provides insight into the important branches of Mechatronics such as medical technics, robotics, aerospace technology, electrical drives, computer-aided methods (CAD-CAM), control engineering, electronics, and radio technology.

Are you looking for a topic for your final paper? Or do you need help conducting research for your paper?
As part of the JKU Young Mechatronics Scientists Program we can offer the following support services:

  • Professional advising by experts at the Johannes Kepler University Linz
  • Access to special literature and materials at our libraries
  • Use of scientific equipment for lab experiments (by appointment)

There are the Kinds of Workshops and Classes You Can Take

The program aims to provide a bit of insight into the multi-faceted field of Mechatronics. There are 6 workshops and participants should complete all of them. Each workshop begins with a presentation explaining the fundamentals and then continues with a hands-on section where participants can "learn by doing".

How Do I Apply for an Internship as Part of the JKU Young Mechatronic Scientists Program?

You can apply for a paid internship position at a company in Upper Austria or at an institute at the Johannes Kepler University Linz during the partner fair at the Kick-Off Meeting on November 29, 2016. The partner company and/or JKU institute reserve the right to select interns from the pool of applicants. The internship will take place in the summer. You can only accept the internship once you have completed 4 out of the 6 workshops in the "JKU Young Mechatronic Scientists" program.

Who Can Take Part?

The JKU Young Mechatronic Scientists program has been designed for students in upper level classes at AHS and BHS schools who are interested in mechanics, electronics and computer sciences and are thinking of pursuing a degree in this area. Students from other schools are also more than welcome to take part!

How to Sign Up for the JKU Young Mechatronic Scientists Program

  • Registration for the 2016/2017 academic year ended on November 13, 2016.
  • For those who have already registered, the program continues as follows:
  • You can register to take part in an option CV Review workshop on November 25, 2016. Take advantage of the opportunity to have your CV and application materials professionally reviewed before applying for an internship.
  • The kick-off meeting on November 29, 2016, provides an opportunity to get to know all of the participants and contact partners
  • During this time, a partner fair will also take place: meet the company partners providing internship opportunities and support for your pre-academic paper/ diploma degree thesis.
