MUSSS at the JKU Provides Flexibility to Work and Study

Two years ago, the MuSSS program (Multimedia Studies Service Sowi) was introduced at the JKU. The program allows certain courses offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics and Business to be completed using a blended learning approach which combines multi-media distance learning with on-site sessions. The program has been designed for students who wish to study independent of time and location constraints. An information session about the MuSSS program will be held on campus on September 16.

Watching Television Without Empty Borders

Computer scientists at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz have developed a procedure to match video content on a screen displaying mismatching aspect rations and/or resolutions while preserving the original video format. Watching TV with empty borders, distortions and missing elements will soon be a thing of the past. The project was honored in August at ACM Siggraph, one of world’s largest academic conferences for computer graphics.
