2.5 Million Euros in Funding for Energy Research Project at the JKU Linz

Congratulations are in order for recognition of research achievements at the Institute of Experimental Physics at the JKU Linz: Prof. Siegfried Bauer and his team have been selected as a recipient of the ERC Advanced Grant, one of Europe’s highest publicly funded grant amounts in support of a research project. For the next five years, research at the Dept. of Soft Matter Physics will be financed with funds in the amount of 2.5 million Euros.

World Class Researcher will Remain at the JKU

Prof. Niyazi Serdar Sariciftci will continue to conduct leading, cutting-edge research in the field of renewable energy at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz. The head of the Linz Institute for Organic Solar Cells (LIOS) and the Institute for Physical Chemistry is one of the world’s leading material scientists and was courted by a number of universities. With the assistance of resources provided by the Upper Austrian government, city of Linz, and the Ministry of Science, this leading researcher will now remain at the JKU.

New Molecule Measuring Methods at the JKU Linz in the Fight Against Epilepsy and Depression

More people are affected by epilepsy and depression than ever before and those diagnosed tend to experience massive life changes. New methods are being developed to help alleviate the effects of these illnesses and researchers at the Johannes Kepler University Linz are a part of these projects. Work published by Prof. Peter Hinterdorfer (Institute of Biophysics) in the renowned "Journal of Biological Chemistry" was recently made accessible to experts around the world.
