Medicine is Benefiting from Research Conducted at the JKU

Medical-related research has been conducted at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz for the past number of years and this research has also enjoyed international acclaim. This includes, for example, the development of software designed to diagnose cancer more efficiently, the study of human myopia, and the development of algorithms for computers tomography in support of better surgical planning. The new Medical School will expand on and strengthen these and similar research areas and contribute greatly to the improvement of the health care system.

JKU Study Proves Sports Sponsorship Greatly Increases Employee Motivation

Using athletes as a form of advertising for companies has long been an essential part of attracting new customers. But does sponsoring also affect a company's employees? Realization of High Quality Quantum Dots with Light Holes

In cooperation with colleagues at the Kavli Institute at the Technical Univeristy of Delft (Netherlands) and the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research (Stuttgart, Germany), scientists at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz and at the Institute for Integrative Nanosciences at the IFW in Dresden (Germany) have succeeded in realizing high quality quantum dots with slight holes in their ground state. Semiconductor-based quantum systems are considered promising components for future systems in highly reliable data transfer. In this area, light holes in quantum dots could be used as a buffer for "quantum bits".
