August 23: Jump Start Your Studies: Preparation Courses at the JKU

The first step is always the hardest? Not necessarily. The Johannes Kepler University Linz is once again offering preparation courses in the subjects of mathematics, physics, and computer sciences to newly enrolled students enrolled in degree programs in technical and natural sciences, business informatics, and statistics. The courses are free and begin in September.

August 16: Transitional Phases: JKU Project Confirms Physical Model

Gallium is a metal that has long piqued scientists' interest, especially as it is so versatile. Although gallium (Ga) is normally a liquid, on a nanoscale it can take on a solid form. Together with scientists from Italy, Australia, and the USA, researchers at the JKU are studying the transitional phase.

August 9: 120 Applicants Accepted to the Medical Degree Program at the JKU

For the third year, the entrance examination to qualify for admission to the degree program in Human Medicine took place at the JKU on July 8, 2016. As planned, this year 120 students will be accepted to the program instead of 60 as in the previous year. The results are now in.

August 4: Two, One, Risk: Men Have a Higher Risk Propensity than Women

Is taking a risk worth it? Are men more prone to taking risks than women and rewarded for it? Could a major reason for gender discrepancy in the labor market come down to the differences in risk-taking between men and women? Researchers at the Johannes Kepler University Linz are currently exploring these and other questions and have now published a new research report.
