Continual Education while working: Registration for a Distance Learning Program runs to February 16th, 2009.

LINZ/HAGEN. Programs of study in cooperation with the Fernuniversität Hagen designed for participants who also work full-time are becoming increasingly popular. Nationwide approximately 2000 students are enrolled in these kinds of programs. One third of all of these participants are enrolled at the Center for Distant Learning at JKU, a partner of the Fernuniversität Hagen. Students can still register for the coming semester. Deadline is February 16, 2009.

Organic Electronics at JKU: an additional 3.2 million Euros in funding have been approved to conduct top priority research to the year 2011.

Organic Electronics is a market of the future: intelligent consumer packaging, printed transistors, flexible displays, rollable solar cells, disposable diagnostic appliances, flexible batteries and electronic games as inserts will soon all be important in society. A research team at the JKU under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Helmut Sitter of the Department of Semiconductor and Solid State Physics is focusing on base knowledge research in this area. JKU and the Adult Education Center Linz (Knowledge Tower) have begun a long-term educational cooperation with the German lecture series “Was Wissen schafft. Science in Residence” (What Knowledge Creates: Science in Residence); Press Conference from January 15, 2009.
