Expansion of Nanotechnology in Upper Austria: an additional 3.6 million Euros are now available for research under JKU supervision.

Nanotechnology is an integral part of our everyday life: small, fast chips provide swift data transmission for new powerful computers, mobile phones and navigation systems. Nano-structured substances and synthetics are more compact, solid and robust and can be found in areas ranging from the environment, chemical process engineering, medicine, all the way to aviation. A nationwide joint under the supervision of JKU focuses on nanotechnology and conducts top priority research. Pdf file in German only.

Unique in the German-Speaking World: Pupils and Researchers Create an Online “Opinion Corner” for Teens

LINZ/STEYR. Under the motto “Opinion Corner – Your Opinion Counts!”, students from the Linz Auhof Commercial Academy and researchers at JKU have created an online panel focused on youth research. Teens have an opportunity to be questioned on various topics. This serves to create an opinion platform for teens as well as create a new kind of infrastructure for socio-scientific research. “Women in Engineering”: FIT – Open House 2009 at JKU

On February 9th and 10th, 2009 the tenth annual FIT Open House took place on the JKU campus. Female students from upper level secondary schools as well as other interested women had an opportunity to learn more about studies in engineering and natural sciences at JKU as well as at the universities of applied sciences (Fachhochschulen) in Upper Austria.
