Wilhelm Macke Award 2008 awards to JKU physics graduates

The bestowal of the Wilhelm Macke Award on Thurs., April 16, 2009 for the best theses work by physics graduates at the JKU was described by Vice Rector Univ.Prof. DDr. Herbert Kalb as “the most successful marketing event in the area of physics”. Since 1997, the award - named after Prof. Wilhelm Macke, founder of the study of physics at JKU – has been bestowed for excellent thesis work submitted by students who participated in research studies abroad. Economic Analysis Confirmed: Regionally Added Value and Effect on Employment at JKU is Not Unimportant

Univ.Prof. Dr. Friedrich Schneider and his team from the Department of Economics conducted a study of the complete regional economic added value and effect on employment by focusing on activities at JKU during the period between 2004 and 2009, including building projects from 2007 to 2013. Raiffeisen Federal State Bank Upper Austria and voestalpine AG support the JKU Kepler Card

For the past ten years, the Kepler Card at JKU has served 14,000 students and 2,200 JKU faculty and staff as an employee/student ID, means of payment and as a parking permit card. This multi-functional card has become an integral part of daily campus life. The Raiffeisen Federal State Bank of Upper Austria and the voestalpine AG serve as “architects”, not only in areas of technology but also financially.
