Two Sub Auspiciis Graduates at JKU

Two young academics at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz graduated Sub Auspiciis (with special honors by the president of the Austrian republic) on Thursday; one candidate with a doctorate degree in Engineering and another candidate with a doctorate degree in Social Sciences, Economics and Business. This is the highest academic distinction for academic work completed in Austria and a long-standing tradition dating back to the imperial empire. At the commencement ceremony, Austrian president Heinz Fischer emphasized that Sub Auspiciis ceremonies are a time honored tradition that will surely continue well into the future.

Grand Opening of the New Mechatronics Building at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU)

At the official opening of the Science Park on October 9th, Rector Richard Hagelauer accepted symbolic keys from BIG general manager Wolfgang Gleissner in honor of the completion of Phase I. After two and a half years of construction and a cost of approximately 30 million Euros, the 143 meter long Mechatronics building is undoubtedly the new show piece on campus. Following the opening ceremony, an “Open House” event was organized for local residents. One of the many highlights included spectacular demonstrations conducted by the newly relocated Mechatronic institutes.

Founding of the Peter Rummel Scholarship Endowment

To mark the retirement and emeritus of o. Univ. Prof. Dr. Peter Rummel, the Peter Rummel Scholarship Endowment was established to honor Prof. Rummel’s dedication to education in the area of law. The funding provided will serve to support gifted law students during the course of their studies in Civil Law.
