Endowed Chair for Integrated Quality Design

Announcement of a Faculty Opening at the Johannes Kepler University Linz for a Professor for Integrated Quality Design in compliance with the Austrian Universities Act of 2002, §94 para. 2 subpara. 1 UG 2002)

In cooperation with the Quality Austria Foundation, the Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU) invites applications for the privately employed position of

Integrated Quality Design


to begin immediately. The appointment is according to § 98 UG 2002. During the 5 year startup phase, an accompanying external evaluation of the development of the new professorship will be conducted.


Requirements include a research focus on a current area in the following fields of research:

  • Comprehensive and integrative design of quality management systems
  • Development and validation of methods for quality design throughout a product’s life cycle
  • Quality design and management for product and process innovation with a focus on the early stages of product development

The successful candidate will be able to represent these research fields in a concrete framework consisting of research, teaching, continual education, and externally funded research as well as develop an independent research program in the field of “Integrated Quality Design (Research, Development, Implementation)” by developing strong ties to the TF Faculty at the JKU. The idea is to strengthen the JKU’s research fields.

The successful candidate should have work experience and competency in quality management with a technical background and possess a technical/engineering background in the field of product development. The position is aimed at outstanding individuals who are recognized nationally and internationally in the field of engineering sciences.

The successful candidate is expected to participate in “fields of excellence”, main research fields and drafting curricula at the JKU as well as practice independent management. The successful candidate must show a high level of cooperative willingness at both the university and outside of the university as well as show s/he can make professional connections.

Applicants for the position must have a doctorate degree and post-doctorate (venia docendi) degree (or comparable post-doctorate qualifications) in a field of engineering in a research area as listed in the job description.

A salary above the minimum amount as stated in the collective agreement will be voluntarily offered. Depending on the current position (present salary) the annual gross salary will be between €70,000 to € 90,000 (minimum salary as stated in the collective agreement plus voluntary additional payments).
