Professorship in Social and Economic History

Announcement of a Tenured Faculty Opening at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics and Business at the Johannes Kepler University Linz in “Social and Economic History” in compliance with §94 para. 2 subpara. 1 2002 Universities Act)

The Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics and Business at the Johannes Kepler University Linz invites applications for an employment position under private law for a

Professor of
Social and Economic History
(emphasis either on the early modern period or the 19th and 20th century)

to begin immediately. An evaluation will follow after a four-year period.

The successful candidate is expected to be an internationally recognized academic in the field of Social and Economic History; the candidate should have an interest in global history issues and interdisciplinary research. In cooperation with other universities, the Johannes Kepler University of Linz is planning a new teacher education program in History, Political Education, and Social Studies. The successful candidate will be expected to take an active part in the development and expansion of this teacher education program. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to actively participate in business degree programs as well as offer courses in the Bachelor’s degree program of “Cultural Studies”, in the Master’s degree program “Political Education”, and the Ph.D. program in Humanities and Cultural Studies and Social Sciences, Economics & Business

A salary above the minimum amount as stated in the collective agreement will be voluntarily offered. Depending on the current position (present salary) the annual gross salary will be between €80,000 to € 100,000 (minimum salary as stated in the collective agreement plus voluntary additional payments).
