Professorship for English Language and Literature Studies

Announcement of an Interim Faculty Opening for a University Professor of English Language and Literature Studies at the Center for Business Languages and Intercultural Communication at the Johannes Kepler University Linz in compliance with §99 of the 2002 Universities Act)

The Center for Business Languages and Intercultural Communication at the Johannes Kepler University Linz invites applications for a full-time, five-year employment position as a

Professor of English Language and Literature Studies

to begin immediately.

The successful candidate will manage the Center for Business Languages and Intercultural Communication. He/she will also represent the Center within and outside of the university, manage and supervise internal and external course instructors, and coordinate the field of teaching and research.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the area of language education for degree programs in Social Sciences, Economics and Business as well as in the subject of English in support of teacher education studies (secondary school). He/she will also be in charge of examinations (including credit recognition/transfer of external examinations taken in a foreign language) and supervise academic theses.

In regards to research, the successful candidate will cover a specific area of English Studies (such as linguistics, literature, or teaching) and be internationally recognized in his/her field. Desired, but not required, is experience with and research on intercultural skill workshops and familiarity with cultural, social, and/or business methods.

The successful candidate is expected to assume autonomous administrative tasks at the university, actively participate in the university's internationalization efforts, and help develop curricula for academic degree programs.

Applicants for the position must have a post-doctorate (venia docendi) degree or comparable post-doctorate qualifications in the field of English - Language and Literature Studies. Desired, but not required are (a) experience in teaching and supervising academic theses, (b) internationally recognized research in a field of English Studies, (c) management experience within a multicultural environment, (d) experience in human resource development and policies for the advancement of women, (e) interculatural and social skills as well as experience from longer periods spent abroad.

The current annual gross salary in accordance with the collective agreement is €66,953.60. Any salary negotiations must be conducted with the Rector.
