TLS/SSL Server Certificates

TERENA (www.terena.org), the Trans-European Research and Education Networking Association, has re-issued a new skeleton contract in regards to the allocation and administration of TLS/SSS server certificates.
The new and enhanced TERENA Certificate Service (TCS) will be provided by the company Comodo.

ACOnet has entered the new contract and made this certificate available free of charge to all ACOnet participants (University of Linz) and in unlimited quantity.

IMPORTANT:

By the end of March 2010, the ( old! ) Global Sign certificate will no longer be valid. Please replace it with the new TCS certificate by Comodo.
We have learned that Comodo will no longer offer the so-called 'Wildcard Certificate‘ (i.e.: *.domain.at) previously provided by TERENA Certificate Service (TCS).
Therefore the creation of a multi-domain certificate will be easier as the aliases can be entered directly at the time of application.

General information on TCS, including the new additional agreements (ACO-Certificates_v2.pdf) can be found at:

You can apply for a TCS certificate either via a web mask:

or by sending an e-mail to melanie.bernkopf(/\t)jku.at or claus.wohlschlager(/\t)jku.at. Please include the following information:

First Name
Last Name
AK Number
Name of Institue

Instructions to create a CSR (Certificate Signing Request) for Apache mod_ssl/OpenSSL can be found here.
