EU Funding Guidebook by the Upper Austrian Government
The Upper Austrian EU Funding Guidebook provides a brief, concise summary of EU funding measures (the list is not exhaustive).
H2020 - A Program for Research and Innovation, 2014 - 2020
Since 2014, this program has been a key instrument in EU research funding. The budget is over 70 billion euros, making it the world's largest transnational program for research and innovation. For the first time, all phases of the innovation process will be supported in the program.
FP7 - Seventh European Research Framework Programme, 2007 - 2013
The most important EU tool in support of research funding is the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (time period from 2007 to 2013). The program has an overall budget of 50 billion Euros and activities financed through the FP7 program must include and support “added value for Europe”.
The European Research Area is More Than H2020
In addition to H2020, the European Research Area includes additional tools and initiatives in support of research and innovation projects. These include tools on a regional, national and transnational level and borne by public-private and public-publich partnerships.
Article 185 - Nationally Coordinated Initiatives (governed by Article 185)
Article 185 Initiatives offer opportunities to collaborate in joint calls on a European level. Calls will be published on each respective initiative's website.
Article 187 - JTI - Joint Technology Initiatives
JTIs: Long-term institutional Public-Private Partnerships (note: as opposed to contractual PPPs) designed to develop strategic plans to strengthen industrial competitiveness and implement these plans in the context of calls. Excellent opportunities to build international networks with ETPs – European Technology Platforms (industry led stakeholder fora that develop short to long-term research and innovation agendas and roadmaps for action at the EU and national level).
ERA-Net - Networking the European Research Area
ERA-Nets: Pooling existing resources by funding transnational projects through national and regional programs. Calls are published in the EC Participant Portal.
JPI - Joint Programming Initiatives
JPIs coordinate measures and resources to address key social challenges that cannot be solved on a national level.
Contractual PPP - Public-Private Partnerships (Contractual)
