Personal Development Program in Optoelectronics-Photovoltaics

Program Objectives:
Optoelectronics and Photovoltaics are areas in continual growth and development. Photovoltaics are of the largest and most promising areas in the field of renewable energy sources. The enhancement of the solar cell efficiency and their economic fabrication has enormous economic potential. The area of Optoelectronics is in rapid development. Optical communication ranges from broadband data transmission to the personal entertainment sector. Light-emitting diodes are the future for more efficient lighting and can be found in households, public areas, and even used in automobile lighting. Numerous companies in Austria are developing technology in these areas but until now, there has not been a post graduate level program in this area. The program, designed for professionals who wish to remain employed full-time as they pursue university studies, provides base knowledge and application oriented studies in the areas of optoelectronics, photovoltaics and lighting engineering.
The program objective is to provide engineers with a sound and continual academic education to pursue a career in optics, optoelectronics, photovoltaics and lighting engineering.

Admission Requirements:
(1) Admission requirements for the program include qualified admission to university studies (=die allgemeine Universitätsreife) and at least one year of professional work experience. Applicants must have an engineering background.
(2) Higher qualified candidates will be given preference. The Vice Rector will render the final decision regarding admission upon recommendation of the program's Academic Director.
(3) The start of a new program is contingent on a minimum number of admitted participants. Admission will become official when the minimum number of participants is attained.

The program has been designed to accommodate working professionals.
Post Graduate Program: Optoelectronics and Photovoltaics.
Degree Awarded: Academic Engineer or Academic Engineer for Optoelectronics and Photovoltaics
Duration: 3 semesters (distributed during 1 calendar year)

A new program is expected to begin in October 2016
