Diploma Degree Thesis

Students enrolled in a Diploma degree program are required to write and submit a Diploma degree thesis. Additional information regarding grading and how to find a thesis supervisor can be found in the university ordinance. Additional information pertaining to topics have been established in each program curriculum.

Students should select a conceptual thesis form so that completion of the thesis within a six-month period is realistic.

The completion of a Diploma degree thesis by one or more students is permitted, provided the work completed by each student can be clearly and individually assessed.

Once the student officially has a thesis topic, the student must register the topic at the Department of Examination and Recognition Services using the appropriate form.
Students must have already passed the first Diploma examination.

application/pdfForm - Register Diploma Degree Thesis (25KB, Note: Please print both pages (double-sided if possible); German only)

Students must provide a signature by the thesis supervisor or academic professor.

2 hard bound copies (no spiral binding!) must be submitted to the Department of Examination and Recognition Services.

Beginning in Summer Semester 2012, all diploma degree theses at the JKU must be submitted in both electronic and print versions. The electronic version must be uploaded as a PDF file at the following address (see below) before submitting the print version:

Please note that you may submit a print version only if it is completely identical with the uploaded electronic version. No more than one working day may pass between the time you submit the electronic version and the time you submit the print version (distance learning students: when submitting by post, the postmark date will count). We strongly recommend first creating a PDF file and submitting a print version of that file.

You must enable Usage Rights in your PDF document in order to allow the reader to make changes. The document may not contain scanned images as a print version. Do not lock your document or set a password. The document must be saved in a ISO 19005-1 compatible format (PDF/A) which is specialized for the digital preservation of electronic documents.

The cover sheet must contain the following information:
- Name and location of the university
- Institute
- Title and subtitle of the Diploma degree thesis
- Diploma degree thesis for the acquisition of an academic degree ......
- Enrolled in the Diploma degree program ........
- Name of the thesis supervisor
- Name of the author
- Month and year of submission

You can opt to use the following templates:

The following statutory declaration must appear in your thesis:

Statutory Declaration
I hereby declare that the thesis submitted is my own unaided work, that I have not used other than the sources indicated, and that all direct and indirect sources are acknowledged as references.
This printed thesis is identical with the electronic version submitted.
