Change in Student ID Numbers

New Student ID Numbers

New legal stipulations require that student ID numbers in Austria be changed from 7 to 8 digits.

7-digit student ID numbers will be given a “0” in front of the first digit. Previously issued 7-digit student ID numbers will remain unchanged (for example: 0123456 → 00123456).

The regulation affects all students who were issued a student ID number at an Austrian university or college before Winter Semester 2017.

Starting now, please use your new 8-digit student ID number at the JKU

The changeover is valid throughout Austria beginning June 1, 2017.

JKU Cards and Documents Continue to be Valid

Existing JKU Cards (student ID cards) and documents (such as student record sheets, transcripts) containing 7-digit student ID numbers will continue to be valid.

Login to the JKU Systems

Your user name to log in to the JKU systems (wifi, KUSSS, Moodle, Aleph, etc.) remains the same. Log in as before using k + the former student ID number as your user name. You do NOT have to change over your user name and password.
