Why Study at the JKU?
The International Office Team
The International Office is responsible for the coordination and administration of international student exchange programs. Our team is available to facilitate all of the preparations necessary for your stay abroad, such as the application procedure, finding accommodations, organizing a pre-semester program and answering any and all questions and concerns you may have!
REFI, JKU Students Committed to Assisting Exchange Students
You will most certainly become well acquainted with REFI during your stay at JKU! REFI is a part of the Austrian Student Union committed to ensuring visiting exchange students enjoy their stay in Linz. The team organizes regular events such as a welcome party, a night at the casino, and their now popular 'Stammtische' (a bi-weekly get-together where international students introduce food, drinks, music and games from their respective home countries) and excursions in and around Austria (as well as to Budapest and Prague). More information
As an international student, you will be assigned an Austrian student from the JKU to mentor and assist you upon arrival and during your stay here. Mentors will pick you up from the airport or train station, assist you with university enrollment procedures as well as introduce you to activities in Linz and Austrian student life. More information
Students and staff at the JKU are committed to ensuring a smooth transition to student life in Austria by providing an exciting and informative orientation program.
Prior to the beginning of each semester, the university offers intensive German language courses. In small classes, students attend German lessons designed for beginners as well as for students with intermediate and advanced levels of German. JKU also offers all exchange students a complementary 'Cultural Sensitivity' program to assist with cultural immersion.
In addition, the International Office organizes a campus tour, a guided city tour of Linz and excursions to local places of interest to familiarize incoming students with the local area. More Information
