Development of an image processing system for the control of the singling quality of a singling unit

To increase the crop yield the correct sowing density is to be achieved by adapting the spacing between the crops considering the nutriment available in the soil. This can be achieved by exact seed singling.
The aim of this Projektseminar on the Institute for Measurement Technology is the development of an image processing system for the control of the singling quality of a singling unit constructed by the company Pöttinger. The system has to be capable of detecting crops with a diameter down to 1 mm moving by the camera with a speed of freefall of a few m/s. This can be achieved by using a CCD–linescan camera of the company Eureca Messtechnik connected via parallelport to a PC running the Linux–extension RTLinux.
The software for the use of the camera was developped in former Projekts of Michael Kastner and Alexander Niedermayer.
