Connect_Hydro

The goal of the Connect_Hydro project is the exploration of a new intelligent networking system that allows for optimal overall control of small hydroelectric power plants, to increase the energy production.
Today more than 50 micro and mini hydro power plants of more than 40 owners are operated on 48 kilometers today. Each of the power plants has its singular control system, often relying on different technology. Thus, the challenges concern the basic control strategy, the collection and analysis of current data from the power plants in the power plant chains (e.g., performance data, level settings, machine parameters) in real-time and the distribution of control relevant information to all distributed hydro power plants.
