Semiconductor Quantum Dot (QD) structures - Fundamental growth aspects and optical properties
The focus here lies on the epitaxial growth of high quality QD structures. A new molecular beam epitaxy system is available for the growth. State-of-the-art equipment can be used for structural and optical characterization. We are currently working on two material systems with the target of realizing QDs with highest optical properties for quantum optics experiments:

         Novel self-assembled GaAs/AlGaAs QDs obtained by local droplet etching.
         InGaAs QDs optimized for single dot spectroscopy

Strain-tunable QD-devices

         Integration of QD-structures and optoelectronic devices onto piezoelectric actuators
         Investigation of strain-induced effects
         Broad-range and fine tuning of QD emission
         Combination of large strain- and electric-fields on single QDs
         Quantum optics with tunable QDs

Thermoelectric properties of nanostructured semiconductors (Ge/SiGe)
