Further Information:

The focus of the Institute for Systems Engineering and Automation is to make software engineering better. We thus emphasize on tools and technologies that assist you, the software engineer. Our portfolio is diverse, ranging from

  1. checking the correctness of code and models (you have to trust the model or the code!)
  2. understanding the vital relationship between model, code, and requirements (if you do not know where a requirement is implemented then how can you change the code?)
  3. reuse and modeling variability (i.e., product line)
  4. testing strategies and simulation
  5. experimental studies
  6. code instrumentation and profiling
  7. transformations (code generation, refactoring, repairs, or abstraction)
  8. formal analysis
  9. multi-user collaborations (how and in what manner should software engineers interact and collaborate?)
  10. Versioning
  11. And pretty much any other topic in the realm of software engineering (see book of Ian Sommerville)

The topics below are concrete ideas that fall into our portfolio. Our topics change daily and even if you do not find your ideal topic in the list below, just contact us (alexander.egyed@jku.at) about your general interest (e.g., I am interested in a Bakk Thesis on testing and transformation, can we talk?). I am sure we’ll find something.
