Effects of the project

Our institute is constant contact with the Software Competence Center Hagenberg (SCCH), a local research centre that liaises industry and software researchers. In several interactions, they have expressed interest in parts of the work carried out in relation to the Lise Meitner project. Through them, we have started a collaboration with Trumpf Maschinen Austria GmbH & Co.KG. who is a leading manufacturer of bending machines for metal sheets. These room-sized machines combine both hardware and software elements and customers of these machines may choose from a wide range of features. This company interest lies in application of our approach to correctly identify the variants they can provide (reverse engineering feature models) , trace their code to the implementation, and effectively test them in an efficient manner.

A second company that showed interest in our work is KEBA AG who produces hardware,
software, and tools for industrial automation solutions including injection molding machines, robotics, and heating systems controls. KEBA develops and maintains several heterogeneous system platforms that exist in numerous variants to meet customer requirements in different market segments. Our collaboration with them has as its main goal to assess how our work could improve variability management within their systems considering that they use different and ad hoc mechanism to model and realize their systems. A first result of our collaboration is reported in [Li+14a].
