Oct 4th, 2017: Andreas Eitzinger successfully defends his master thesis and graduates as DI. He will stay in our group to carry out future PhD studies.




Oct 2nd, 2017: Victoria Haider joins the group to carry out her Master thesis.




Sept 26th, 2017: Johanna Novacek is awarded the "Förderungspreis für Chemie" of the Austrian Chemical Society (GÖCH) for her PhD thesis entitled "Ammonium Salts in Organic Synthesis – From Bifunctional Ammonium Salt Catalysts to Theoretical Investigations Concerning Ammonium Ylide Mediated Epoxidations" and the "Best Paper Award" by Monatsh. Chem. for her article "On the origin of the stereoselectivity in chiral amide-based ammonium ylide-mediated epoxidations".
The award ceremonies took place during the Austrian Chemistry Days in Salzburg.




Sept 2nd, 2017: Maximilian Tiffner receives the best poster award at the 17th Blue Danube Symposium on Heterocyclic Chemistry in Linz for his poster about the CO2 fixation with epoxides by using a cooperative catalyst system.
The award was generously sponsored by Thieme and also highlighted on their webpage!




Aug. 22nd, 2018: A new stand alone project of our group to work on the "Syntheses of Chiral Fluorinated Amino Acids and Peptides" was approved by the Austrian Science Funds FWF (P30237). This project was generously made possible through the matching funds program of the Upper Austrian Government and the Austrian National Funds for Research, Technology and Development.




July 31st, 2017: Christopher Mairhofer joins the group to carry out his Master thesis.




May 3rd, 2017: Christina Gaunersdorfer successfully defends her Master Thesis.




April 18th, 2017: Our communication describing the first highly enantioselective spirocyclopropanation of para-quinone methides using chiral ammonium ylides has been accepted for publication in Organic Letters.




April 5th, 2017: Our collaborative communication together with Wolfgang Schöfberger's group describing the CO2 fixation with epoxides using a cooperative mtal corrole - quaternary ammonium salt catalyst system has been accepted for publication in Chemistry - An Asian Journal.




April 3rd, 2017: Viktoria Kreuzer joins the group to carry out her Master thesis.




March 6th, 2017: Michael Winter joins the group to carry out his Master thesis.




Feb 6th, 2017: Our collaborative full paper together with Raphael Robiette, Louvain la Neuve, Belgium describing the first highly enantioselective synthesis of 2,3-dihydrobenzofurans via a (4+1) annulation between ammonium ylides and in situ generated ortho-quinone methides has been accepted for publication in Chemistry - A European Journal.




Jan 23rd, 2017: Martin Ferry from Dublin, Ireland joins the group as an exchange PhD student in the course of our collaborative H2020 RISE Project "Quatsalts".




Jan 1st, 2017: The new homepage of the Workgroup Organic Chemistry (GÖCH) created and run by Nuno Maulide and Michael Schnürch is now online and provides an overview about organic chemistry related activities and events in Austria.

Sept 12nd, 2016: Our collaborative full paper with Mathew Vetticatt's group (Binghamton, USA) describing the use of bifunctional ammonium salt catalysts for the asymmetric a-hydroxylation of b-ketoesters accompanied by a simultaneous kinetic resolution of oxaziridines has been accepted for publication in Chemistry - A European Journal.




Sept 9th, 2016: Stefan Humer successfully defends his Master thesis and graduates as DI. He will soon join Prof. Marko Hapke's group as a PhD student.




August 22nd, 2016: Our communication together with David Diaz Diaz's group in Regensburg, Germany, describing the use of ionene polymers as phase-transfer catalysts has been accepted for publication in ChemistrySelect.




July 27th, 2016: Johanna Novacek successfully defends her PhD thesis and qualifies for a promotion "Sub auspiciis Praesidentis". She will soon join Prof. Alois Fürstner's group as a postdoc (Erwin Schrödinger Fellowship by the Austrian Science Funds FWF).




May 31st, 2016: Our full paper together with Raphael Robiette, Louvain la Neuve, Belgium, describing detailed mechanistic studies of ammonium ylide mediated epoxidation reactions and the first enantioselective protocol for this reactions has been accepted for publication in Chemistry - A European Journal.




May 22nd, 2016: Our collaborational communication together with Raphael Robiette, Louvain la Neuve, Belgium, describing the use of ammonium ylides for the synthesis of stilbene oxides has been accepted for publication in Synlett.




May 9th, 2016: Johanna Novacek receives an FWF Erwin Schrödinger Fellowship to join Prof. Alois Fürstner's group in Mülheim, Germany as a postdoc.




March 3rd, 2016: Our communication describing the transition metal free dimerization of alkynes has been accepted for publication in Tetrahedron Letters.

Oct 1st, 2013: Dr. Raghunath Chowdhury (Mumbai, India) receives a Lise-Meitner Postdoctoral Fellowship by the Austrian Science Funds (FWF) for his proposal "Chiral Ammonium Salts Meet Transition Metal Catalysis" (M1602). Raghunath will join our group in the beginning of 2014.




Sept 30th, 2013: The Austrian Science Funds (FWF) funds a new stand alone project of our group to work on the "Syntheses of (Chiral) Hetero- and Carbocycles Using Ammonium Enolates" (P26387).




Sept 25th, 2013: Johanna Novacek is awarded the Poster Price at the 15th Austrian Chemistry Days in Graz for her poster about bifunctional ammonium salt catalysts.




June 3rd, 2013: Our microreview about tartaric acid derived organocatalysts has been published online in Eur. J. Org. Chem.




April 11th, 2013: Our fullpaper describing the application scope of our TADDOL-derived chiral phase-transfer catalysts has been accepted for publication in a special issue on asymmetric catalysis in Molecules.

Aug 30th, 2011: Richard Herchl gets the "Förderungspreis für Chemie" of the Austrian Chemical Society (GÖCH) for his diploma thesis on "Ammonium ylide mediated epoxidations" - the price will be awarded on Sept. 27th in the course of the Austrian Chemistry Days in Linz.




June 24th, 2011: Our paper on ammonium ylide mediated epoxidations has been accepted for publication in Org. Biomol. Chem.
