Our research team is organized in two modeling groups who concentrate on discrete and continuous particulate flow models. While the first Rock’n’Roll group tries to resolve the behavior of individual particles the second Dust’n’Dirt group considers the multitude of dispersed particles as an artificial particulate phase which can penetrate the interstitial continuous phase. These two modeling groups are supported by a cross-sectional Experiments group.

There is vibrant interaction between these groups. PhD students are jointly supervised by senior scientists from one of the modeling groups and the experimental group. Interaction between the two modeling groups gives birth to hybrid (discrete and continuous) particulate flow models.
