Accomodation and Travel

By Train
Linz is a railway hub with Intercity lines connecting it to Vienna (1 hr 18 min), Salzburg (1 hr 10 min), Munich (2 hr 40 min), and Passau (1 hr 10 min). See the homepage of the Austrian Railway ÖBB for individual train connections.
In Linz, you can either
• take a taxi (approximately 15 min, about 20 Euro), or
• take a tram (German: "Straßenbahn") number 1 or 2 direction "Universität" and get off at the last stop (approximately 23 min). A one-way ticket (MIDI, 2.20 Euro) or a day-ticket (MAXI, 4.40 Euro) may be purchased from an (orange) ticket machine or in a tobacco store ("Trafik"). See the map of the public transport in Linz; the train station is labelled "Hauptbhf," university is labelled "Universität."

By Plane
The Blue Danube Airport (airport code: LNZ) is located 15 kilometers from the downtown of Linz. From the airport, you can either
• take a taxi (about 50 euro), or
• take the bus No. 601 to Linz train station (19 min, 2.80 Euro), from where you can take a tram to JKU by following the instructions above.

In most cases you will get a favorable price if you fly to Vienna International Airport and take a Train to Linz.

By Car
Linz is located about one and a half hours from either Vienna, Salzburg, or Passau. Take the exit "Dornach" of the highway A7 to arrive at the campus of JKU.
