VO Sensors and Actuators in Mechatronics

Learning Outcome

Based on establishing a deep basic understanding for operation principles and properties of different measurement and actuation methods, this course provides an overview of currently used sensor and actuation principles for various measurement applications. Following the course, the students gain understanding to properly chose and apply sensing and actuation methods for industrial and research applications.

  • Static and dynamic properties of sensor and actuator systems
  • Measurement principles for visualization and characterization of flow phenomena
  • Flow measurement principles
  • Optical temperature measurement and thermography
  • Magnetic sensors
  • Piezo effects and piezoelectrical sensors and actuators
  • Sensor electronics and sensor signal processing
