THE IRIS-FISCHLMAYR Awards and Scholarship.

The IRIS FISCHLMAYR Awards provides funding to support an outstanding academic/scientific Master’s/Diploma degree thesis. The IRIS FISCHLMAYR Scholarship is a dissertation scholarship awarded to provide support to junior women academics/scientists in areas of engineering and natural sciences.

The awards and fellowship are comprised as follows:

  • One award accompanied with €2,500 in prize money to financially support a completed, outstanding Dissertation related to diversity in Social Sciences, Economics & Business, Law and/or in Medical Sciences
  • Two awards accompanied with € 1,250 in prize money to financially support completed, outstanding Master's/Diploma degree theses related to diversity in Social Sciences, Economics & Business, Law and/or in Medical Sciences
  • A Research Scholarship in accordance with § 95 of the Austrian Universities Act, in the currently valid form, in the form of a Dissertation scholarship to financially support a junior female academic/scientist in disciplines of engineering and natural sciences at the Johannes Kepler University Linz for a 12-month period up until the dissertation is complete

The following award winners of the 2022 Iris Fischlmayr Awards & Scholarship were selected unanimously by the jury and personally notified:

The Category of Dissertations:

MSSc Dr. Veronika Prieler: „Ambivalente Regulierungen und Subjektformierungen: Transformationen des Care-Regimes am Beispiel der österreichischen Live-in-Betreuung“

The Category or Master's/Diploma Degree Theses:

Two first-place winners (n alphabetical order):

Mag. Alisha Akii: „Compliance im Antidiskriminierungsrecht: Umsetzungsmöglichkeiten zur Erhöhung des arbeitsbezogenen Diskriminierungsschutzes in der Privatwirtschaft am Beispiel geschlechtsbezogener Diskriminierung“

Flora Stiftinger, BSc MSc: “The Effect of Ethnic Diversity on Team Performance: An Analysis of Highly-Skilled Teams in Austria”

The Category of Research Scholarship:

The research grant was awarded to Dipl. Ing. Angelika Lackner, BSc., to finalize her dissertation titled "Deciphering the Role of Immunogenic Cell Death in Extracorporeal Photopheresis".


The awards and scholarship ceremony is scheduled to take place during the Young Researchers' Awards Ceremony in June 2023 in JKU's Ceremony Room. Detailed information will be available soon.
