Research@BUS in a Nutshell: Birgit Feldbauer-Durstmüller & Helmut Pernsteiner - Religious and Secular Values at Family-Ownded Firms and Managerial Decisions

Join us at the upcoming presentation of our new research series.

We invite you to join us on November 22, 2021, between 1.30 and 2.00 PM for an upcoming presentation of our new research series: Research@BUS in a Nutshell!

Principal Investigators Prof. Brigit Feldbauer-Durstmüller and Prof. Helmut Pernsteiner will talk about the BUS Seed Project "Religious and Secular Values at Family-Owned Firms and Managerial Decisions".

Abstract: Managerial decisions at family-owned firms are shaped by their unique emphasis on socio-emotional wealth, whilst religious and secular values shift families’ reference points, thus influencing decision-making. Consequently, we aim to develop a closer understanding of the influence of religious (Christian or Muslim) and secular values on family-owned firms and their more influential managerial decisions, including corporate social responsibility commitments, mergers & acquisition activities, crisis management, and management control choices. We draw on interviews with members of family-owned business in the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) due to its homogenous cultural background. This seed-project will provide new insight into family-owned business research and practice, as well as the implications of religion and values on managerial decisions.

The presentation will be held via Zoom, opens an external URL in a new window.
