Macke- Prizes

Wilhelm Macke Master Thesis Award

The award is presented in recognition of an outstanding Master's thesis written at the JKU in the area of physics. The thesis must be graded with a grade of “Sehr Gut”. The award is currently accompanied with prize money in the amount of €1,600 (if the applicant has already won a Macke recognition award, the prize money is reduced accordingly). At most, the award can be presented to 3 candidates per academic year.

The application deadline is February 28 (29) of each year; the thesis approbation must have been 14 months preceding this date, meaning the thesis was approbated between December 1st of the previous year to February 28 (29) of the current academic year.

IIf successful, the applicant must be willing to give a public, generally comprehensible presentation of the paper during the “Macke Awards”, and must also make the presentation available to educators.
