1. Coordinate Admission with Program Director

How do I know if I have been admitted to the program?

To start, before you formally register for a program and submit an application for admission, contact the respective program director. Contact information is available on the homepage of the respective university post-graduate degree program.

Once you have consulted with the program director and and he/she has admitted you to the program, you can continue with the subsquent steps to register for the post-graduate programm

2. Create an Applicant Account

How do I create an applicant account?

During the account registration procedure, opens an external URL in a new window, you will register at the JKU for the first time and as an applicant to the university and be eligible to create a guest account. This account will allow you to continue the registration procedure.


Please note:

  • You will only need this account as a prospective applicant in order to register to enroll in a degree program up until you have been successfully admitted to the university.
  • The applicant account does not permit you to log into JKU IT services (i.e. KUSSS). You may only log in to JKU IT services once you have been successfully admitted to the university and your degree program.

If you already have an applicant account, proceed directly to Step 3 "Select your degree program”

3. Select your degree program and submit an application for admission

How do I select my degree program?

Log in to your applicant account at JKU MyAdmission, opens an external URL in a new window and select the program you wish to enroll in.


During this step, we please submit the following:

  • A recent portrait-size photo (JPEG) for your JKU Card (student ID card)


Please note:

  • You will be taking part in a statistical survey in accordance with § 18 Sec. 6 of the Education Documentation Act.
  • Submit the recent photo as a JPEG file, not in a read-only mode, and as a portrait size. Please select a passport photo in which you are clearly identifiable, preferably with a monochrome background.

What Documents do I Need for the Application?

Please ensure that all of your documents are in a PDF file format, complete (all pages), and legible.

  • Valid passport, ID card or driver's license in combination with your proof of nationality.
  • Confirmation of any name change, providing all documents do not contain the same name (i.e. a marriage certificate).
  • Proof of prior education that qualifies you to pursue the degree program you selected

4. Complete Admission

How can I complete the admissions process?

In general and once your application has been reviewed within the admissions deadline (see below), you are required to come to the JKU Admissions Office in person to finalize the registration procedure. You will receive written notification as to whether or not you are required to come to the Admissions Office in person.

5. Pay Student Union Fee

Why do I have to pay the Austrian Student Union fee?

When enrolling to pursue an academic degree, you must pay the Austrian Student Union fee. Only then will you be officially enrolled.


Please note: The Austrian Student Union fee must be paid every semester.
