Selection Procedure for the Diploma Degree in Law and Bachelor's Degree in Business Law.

Beginning in the 2019/2010 academic year, the Johannes Kepler University will introduce a new admissions procedure to be admitted to studies in law. The new procedure is unique in Austria.

Prospective students interested in pursuing a degree in law can enroll without any restrictions for Winter Semester 2019/2020 as well as for the Summer Semester 2020. Subsequently, however, the available spots in the program will be allocated during the first semester after admission, depending successfully passing the StEOP (= Studies Introductory and Orientation Phase) requirements. However, prospective students who complete the "Fast Track" admissions procedure can secure a spot in the program in advance - without the stress of taking examinations and without regard to the quota of spots available in the program.

Fast Track - Passing Lane via the Aptitude Test

The "Fast Track" option is an online aptitude test that you can take at home. The test does not require any specialized legal knowledge but rather has been designed to explore your inclination and motivation to study law. You will receive the test results approximately 5 weeks after taking the test.

Your Advantages at a Glance

  • If you pass the requirements as outlined in the "Fast Track" admissions process, you are guaranteed a spot in the program regardless of whether or not you start your studies in the Winter Semester 2019/2020 or Summer Semester 2020 and
  • you do not risk being disenrolled from the program if you do not successfully pass the StEOP requirements during the first semester

If you would like to start the Diploma degree program in Law or the Bachelor's degree program in Business Law in Summer Semester 2020 but did not successfully complete the "Fast Track" option the summer before, you must apply for admission via the "Regular Admission" track and focus on completing the StEOP requirements during the first semester after being admitted to the program. You can, however, opt to take the aptitude test during the Summer Semester and be admitted to the program via the "Fast Track" option for Winter Semester 2020/2021 or Summer Semester 2021.

What happens if I don't pass the StEOP requirements?

  1. A fewer number of students successfully completed the "Fast Track" option and/or successfully passed the StEOP requirements than available spots in the respective semester for the selected degree program, and
  2. you have better grades than a majority of your fellow newly enrolled students.

If not, you will automatically be disenrolled from the university. You may apply for admission to the corresponding degree program again during the next academic year.
