Graduates of Bachelor's, Master's/Diploma degree programs and doctorate degree programs can take part in a graduation ceremony scheduled to be held on the following dates:

General Information about Commencement Ceremonies at the JKU

  • You may only take part in the graduation ceremony after you have received official notification that you have successfully completed your academic degree program or if you already have official status as an alumnus (for more information on this, please contact the Office of Examinations and Recognition Services).
  • Administration fees are € 49 (bank transfer information: Johannes Kepler Universität Linz,, Altenbergerstraße 69, 4040 Linz, BIC RZOOAT2L, IBAN AT96 3400 0000 0262 4815, Purpose of Payment: "Akademische Feier"
  • Please attach or upload the payment document (*.pdf, *.jpg or *.tif, max. 2 MB) to the registration form.
  • If you have successfully registered, you will receive detailed information and a confirmation email.

  • Are you celebrating having earned more than one degree? Please sign up with each of your degrees and indicate the number of your degrees in the "Notes" field. The administrative fee must only be paid once.

  • If you cannot take part in the graduation ceremony and must cancel once you have registered - or you are prevented from being able to take part - the administrative fee of €49 will not be refunded.

  • The registration form is only available and visible during the registration period.

  • Parking is available at the university parking lots and regular fees apply.

  • You will receive a written invitation via e-mail containing information about the graduation ceremony and schedule approximately two weeks before the ceremony.

  • You can purchase a graduation cap as part of the commencement ceremony. You can submit your order at any time by sending an e-mail to:

Additional safety protocols apply to our academic commencement ceremonies during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

  • The number of participating graduates per ceremony is limited.
  • Prior to the event and in due time, you will receive an e-mail containing additional information in regard to registering guests. In order to adhere to safety protocols and mandates on-site, each guest attending must register in advance. In addition to each guest’s first and last name, we also need an e-mail address to be able to contact each guest in the event it is necessary to do so. Those who do not provide the required information and fail to register by name will not be admitted to the ceremony.
  • When attending the ceremony, the Austrian “3G Rule” applies, meaning everyone in attendance must show proof of either a recent negative Covid test, or proof of having been vaccinated, or proof of having recovered from Covid and possessing enough antibodies. Please have proof in accordance with the “3G Rule” ready at the time of registration. See: Coronavirus – Current Mandates for detailed information about the Austrian "3G Rule".

  • When indoors, we strongly recommending wearing an FFP2 (KN-95) face mask or a comparable face covering (University Rules & Regulations)
  • A photographer will be on site to take individual portrait photos, but not group or family photos.
  • Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, we may have to cancel scheduled graduation ceremonies at short notice.
