A Bachelor's degree in Human Medicine at the JKU puts you on a new path to medical education: from the very start you focus on interdisciplinary base-knowledge subject areas according topics and organs as well as acquire hands-on, real-world experience with patients.
The JKU's six-semester, 180 ECTS credit Bachelor's degree program in Human Medicine is carried out in cooperation with the Medical University of Graz.
You will spend the first two years of the program either at the Johannes Kepler University Linz or at the Medical University Graz. The subjects and modules as outlined in the 5th and 6th semester of the program will be completed at the JKU Linz.
After successfully completing your Bachelor's degree, you can seamlessly enroll in the Master's degree program in Human Medicine. Graduates earn the title: Dr. med. univ.

The Bachelor's degree in Human Medicine gives you an opportunity to acquire base-knowledge education in natural and life sciences as well as psychosocial understanding. You will learn more about the ethical and economic implications your decisions as a medical professional carry. Clinical internships allow you to acquire interdisciplinary expertise by working on actual medical cases.
You will spend the first two years of the JKU's Bachelor's degree program in Human Medicine either at the Johannes Kepler University Linz or at the Medical University Graz. In terms of content, the program has been coordinated in both locations. Regardless of where you start the program, you benefit from outstanding medical expertise and hands-on clinical experience.
There are several factors involved as to determine whether you spend the first four semesters of the program studying in Linz or Graz. See program details (German only) for detailed information. The subjects and modules outlined for the 5th and 6th semesters of the program will be completed at the JKU Linz.
During the first semester and together in small groups, you will actively take part in an internship. Right from the start of the program you will learn about holding patient-doctor consultations, conducting medical examinations, and intervention techniques. The Clinical Skills Lab (simulation environment) prepares you for patient interaction in a real-world environment.
Starting in the fifth semester of the program, you will complete a weekly clinical internship at the Kepler University Hospital's university clinics and departments or at other partner hospitals. These internships allow you to practice professional patient-doctor interaction and workplace skills.
