Prof. Jakoby Admitted to Academy of Sciences

Earlier in April 2022, Bernhard Jakoby was elected a regular member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW).

Prof. Jakoby is currently head of the JKU’s Institute for Microelectronics and Microsensors. He studied at the Vienna University of Technology, earning his doctorate degree in 1994 and his habilitation/post-doc in Theoretical Electrical Engineering at the TU Vienna in 2001. He has been at the JKU since 2005 and has also been chair of the Academic Works Council since 2016.

Prof. Jakoby has received numerous awards and accolades for his work in the areas of theory and applications for integrated sensors and liquid sensors as well as on electromagnetic fields, including the PRIZE award in recognition of the best university prototype projects (2009), and an Outstanding Paper Award presented by the IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control Society (2010).

Prof. Jakoby is currently the only active JKU faculty member to also be a regular member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. JKU Rector Meinhard Lukas is delighted at the honor and remarked: "On behalf of the JKU and on a personal level, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Prof. Jakoby on the occasion of this truly distinguished honor in recognition of his scientific and academic achievements."
