In the presence of Prof. David Bernhard (head of the Center for Medical Research), on April 7, 2022, Vice-Rector Elgin Drda and Dean of Research, Prof. Andreas Gruber, presented Dr. Christian Wechselberger with his habilitation/post-doc certificate, warmly congratulating him on earning a venia docendi in the subject area of "Pathophysiology". Dr. Wechselberger dissertation is titled "Modulation der TGF-ß Signaltransduktion durch GPI-verankerte Membranproteine am Beispiel von Cripto-1 und Prion Protein".

About Christian Wechselberger:

Priv.-Doz. Dr. Christian Wechselberger studied biology (major in genetics) at the Paris Lodron University in Salzburg, earning his PhD in molecular biology and biochemistry. His research at the Austrian Academy of Sciences (Institute of Molecular Biology) in Salzburg was followed by spending several years abroad in the USA at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland, and focusing on conducting research in molecular tumor biology. Back in Austria, Dr. Wechselberger created his own research group at Upper Austrian Research Ltd, followed by several years of industrial experience at international companies in the field of in vitro diagnostics with project management in medical device development and IVD certification. Dr. Wechselberger has been working in the Department of Pathophysiology at the JKU’s Center for Medical Research since 2018.
