JKU Researcher and Scientist Honored in the USA

Brain researcher Manuela Macedonia has conducted a large amount of research on gestures. Her work is now being internationally recognized.

Dr. Macedonia‘s (Institute for Business Informatics) work has caused quite a stir as she is strong proponent of using avatars and combining body movements to learn languages. The JKU researcher was recently honored in the USA and interviewed by Quanta Magazine. Quanta Magazine is considered a top authority in conveying base-knowledge research and major media outlets such as the Washington Post, Scientific American and others follow these publications closely. Der Standard is secured: The editors are scientists themselves. Dr. Macedonia remarked, “I was particularly pleased to speak alongside Susan Goldin Meadow, the ‘pope’ of gesture research and someone who has always been an authority in this area. I feel confirmed that my idea is gaining recognition and becoming accepted. Using one’s whole body, including movement, is the best way to learn a foreign language.”
