The Center for Medical Research is a central service at the JKU Faculty of Medicine, providing our scientists with prime conditions to conduct biomedical laboratory research.
Our infrastructure was designed to be used by top, award-winning researchers. High quality scientific projects are in the foreground, allowing JKU scientists and external parties conduct outstanding research here.
Our goal is to support the process of exploring new ideas and transpose new knowledge in the field of biomedicine, develop new innovative approaches in prevention and therapy to benefit mankind, and support conditions to educate junior researchers as best we can.
At the new Center for Medical Research, our researchers currently have around 1500 m² of laboratory space at their disposal. At the moment, eight research groups and a core facility (molecular biology and next-generation sequencing) are active at the CMR and are some in the development phase. Current research topics include artificial retinal implants, injections to prevent heart attacks, and much more. An inital set of scientific papers written by the CMR researchers have been published in scientific journals and scientific work conducted by junior researchers is ongoing.
