Welcome to the Center for Medical Research!
The Center for Medical Research (ZMF) forms the core of scientific study in the field of medicine at the Johannes Kepler University Linz, and for the city of Linz, the state of Upper Austria as well as neighboring regions.
The Center for Medical Research is committed to pursuing new knowledge in biomedicine, developing new and innovative approaches in the field of preventative medicine and therapies to support patient well-being as well as advanced scientific education for the next generation of physicians.
Since January 1, 2018, researchers at the JKU's Faculty of Medicine have had access to 1000 m² of laboratory space at the new Center for Medical Research. 6 research groups, 2 core facilities (genomics as well as molecular biology & assay development), and 17 employees currently work at the Center. By the end of 2018, we expect 9 working groups and 3 to 4 core facilities to be active at the Center.
Current research topics include artificial retinal implants, early detection of aortic and blood vessel aneurysms in the brain, as well as completely new therapeutic approaches in gynecological oncology.
Scientific journals have already published the first set of scientific and academic papers and articles written by researchers at the Center. Junior researchers and scholars are currently working on studies and publishing their scientific findings.
